Judge Dr. Marija Draskic

Maria Draškić was born on 8 May 1954, in Belgrade. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, Belgrade University, in 1976, as valedictorian of her class (9.96 GPA). She obtained her LLM in 1982 and defended her doctoral thesis in 1987.

She received specialized training at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London (1989) and the European University Institute in Florence (1992), as a TEMPUS and Jean Monnet Foundation (1993-1994) scholarship holder. In 2000 she participated in the program “Health Care Law from Comparative and European Perspective“, held at the Central European University in Budapest.

From 1977 to 1978 she worked as a judicial trainee at the Second Municipal Court in Belgrade.

In 1978 she was appointed as teaching assistant trainee for a study course in Family law at the Faculty of Law, Belgrade University. After that, she was successively promoted to higher academic ranks: assistant lecturer (1983), assistant professor (1988), associate professor (1995) and full professor (2000).

She is the author of six books and seventy papers, and the co-author of four studies in family law and health care law.

She has taken part in a dozen scientific projects, in the country and abroad.

She is married and has two children.

She was appointed as Constitutional Court Judge in November 2007.

She acted as Deputy-President of the Constitutional Court from 2011 to 2014.
