Judge Dr. Agnes Kartag-Odri

Agneš Kartag-Odri was born in Čoka, in 1951. She graduated from the Faculty of Law, Novi Sad University, in 1975. She received her LL.M from the Faculty of Law, Belgrade University, in 1983, where she also defended her doctoral thesis in 1990.

In 1977 she was appointed assistant lecturer in Theory of State and Law, at Novi Sad Faculty of Law. Since 2003 she has been an associate professor at the same faculty.

From 1995 to 2000, she worked as a senior expert associate at Belgrade Research Institute for Criminology and Sociology. In the period 2000-2002, she acted as Assistant Minister of the Federal Ministry for National and Ethnic Communities.

She has actively participated in the work of expert teams engaged in drafting of federal laws, bilateral agreements and administrative decisions of the provincial authorities. She is the author and co-author of two books, and editor of two international conference proceedings. She has written more than eighty expert papers, such as plenary lectures and papers she presented at various national and international congresses and specialist gatherings. She has made a number of study visits abroad to further advance her professional training and has lectured as visiting professor at the law schools in the USA, Hungary and Germany.

From January 2010, she acted as Deputy President of the Constitutional Court, and from December 2010 to February 2011, as President of the Constitutional Court.

At the proposal of the National Assembly, she was appointed as Constitutional Court Judge by President of the Republic, in December 2007.
